Microscholarship Helped EKU Student Afford Winter Session Courses
Senior BSN student, Frankfort native, Hayli Hayden, was excited to be selected for a microscholarship to complete classes during the 2021 Winter term. Hayli said, “I had told my parents that I applied for the microscholarship and was hoping I would be selected. If I hadn’t been selected, I wouldn't have been able to take a winter course. When I found out I received the microscholarship, I instantly called my parents and told them how I was so excited! I couldn't stop smiling!”
Microscholarships make catching up or getting ahead on your degree more affordable. With the addition of a microscholarsip to your free books, taking EKU winter classes is now less expensive than ever. Hayli said that, “Receiving the microscholarship for the winter term was a big factor that chose whether or not I would be able to take that class. Coming from a low income family, I was eager to get ahead in my education, but money is often a big factor that inhibits that. Since I received the microscholarship, I was able to take a class and get ahead on my education.”
Being able to focus on one or just a few classes from the comfort of your own home has appealed to numerous EKU students, and Hayli was no different. “Nursing is a very hard major; being able to take winter courses allowed me to knock out general education requirements so that when the spring term started, I could focus on my nursing classes. I was much less stressed than I would have been.”
Hayli, and many other students just like her, are able to get ahead or catch up on their degrees at a much more affordable rate, with much less stress and from home. Winter courses for 2022 are approaching soon and you don’t want to miss your opportunity to do the same!
